Frequently Asked Questions

Can we have our blood test taken before we arrive to Mexico?
The majority of our guests do their blood tests here in México. That’s the more convenient way for you to get the medical papers, because you won't need any translation and neither Apostille or certification. The option that we have to do the blood tests here in México is at the hotel in our medical center, with our doctors, you have to go to Hacienda Doña Isabel that is the first yellow building at the entrance of the Resort there is our medical center, so you have to be there before 12:00 pm and the results will be ready the next day the cost is 70 USD per person.
In case you will decide to have it done in your country don’t forget that they will have to be dated not prior to the fifteen days counting backwards to your wedding date. So you have to have the blood tests and medical certificate translated into Spanish and Apostille them at the Mexican Consulate or Embassy at your country or certified them in a Notary

As we are All-Inclusive, do we need to pay charge for extra guests?
Weddings are not part of the All-Inclusive package, therefore you would need to pay the wedding package and the extra charges in case you have , the charge includes cake for 18 persons and 2 champagne bottles for your wedding group as well as an extra dinner in one of our a La Carte restaurants for your wedding night. All the fees are going to be charged at your room bill, and you will have to pay it at the end of your vacations when you leave the hotel.

What documentation is required & when is it required?

  • Valid passports

  • Tourist cards that you'll get entering the country at the Mexican airport,

  • Copy of your birth certificates translated into Spanish (And Apostille by the Mexican Consulate or Embassy at your country or certified them at a Notary in case you have different names on your passports and birth certificates, ask to a Notary for what an Apostille is.

  • Blood tests and medical certificate, that I personally suggest you to do here, as it'd be quicker, cheaper and easier for you.

  • Four Witnesses: with their passports and tourist cards

I am divorced, what papers do I need to bring?

You will need to bring the papers which are listed, as well as some extra documents like the birth certificated translated and Apostille, and the original divorced papers translated and Apostille too. In case the bride doesn't have her maiden name in her passport. She will have to translate and Apostille her birth certificate. Please contact us for more detailed information.

How long do we need to be at the resort before we can be married?
You have to be in Mexico for 4 or 5 working days before the ceremony. If you require a Blessing instead of the Legal ceremony, you only need to be here 3 days beforehand, even when it falls on a weekend.

Some of our guests will be staying in Cancun, but we would like them to join our celebrations. Is this possible?
They can purchase our wedding day pass, which enables them to come into the hotel between 8 a.m. till 11:00 pm., They will then be able to use all of our all-inclusive facilities including the wedding dinner. Please ask them to bring a photo ID with them. The cost of the day pass is 50 USD per person

When do we need to make all our final decisions concerning the flowers, cake etc.?
When you arrive to the hotel, we will have a meeting with you to check all the wedding details, legal papers, location and blood tests. During this meeting we will show you an album full of photos from previous weddings and flowers. You can then decide exactly what you would like to have about the pictures, video, flowers and cake.

Will I be able to have my wedding dress steamed?
We will be able to arrange for your dress to be steamed here in the hotel, but it has an extra charge, at your room you will find a price list of our laundry.

What time of the day will our wedding be?
We normally have our ceremonies at 3:00, 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. We have found this to be the best time, as the heat of the day has gone, yet we still have enough light to take all your beautiful wedding photographs. If you prefer a different time, please let us know in advance, so that we can inform the Judge or the Minister and confirm his availability.

Can we rent tuxedos when we get to Mexico?
There is a place in Cancun that rents tuxedos, but we highly recommend you to bring your own outfits. This saves you any unnecessary stress, as you know that your outfits fit well because you have tried them on before you come here.

Will there be a hairdresser to style my hair?
We have a Spa located within our hotel. They have excellent hairstylists, and a selection of photos that you can look through to get some ideas. They are also able to provide massages, manicures, pedicures and facials. All these services have an extra charge, and are payable to the Spa directly. Once you are in the hotel, you can make the appointment directly with the Spa

Included at the packages is music from a selection of CDs, or you can bring your own favorite ones with you (we need 4 songs one for the entrance, 2 for the signatures and 1 for the end), or choose between few options that we have (classical, romantic, Latin, Mexican… etc.) If you want to have live music you will have to pay an extra charge, a very popular option with previous couples is the Mariachis. No, the birth certificate that you have with out your parent’s names will work.

For the Government of Quintana Roo, the only ID which is accepted for bride, groom, and the four witnesses is a passport. The divers license is not accepted al a legal identification for the marriage papers.

Does we are required to have our birth certificates, including parents’ names, translated into Spanish? Is also necessary to have it notarized or approver by the Mexican Consulate?
If you bring your passports with you, and your birth certificates and passports have the same names on it, you do not have to worry about this part. With the small birth certificate and its translation into Spanish it will be ok.

Our marriage will be legal in Canada after having been performed in Mexico or if we will have to have it legalized once we return to Canada?
Please ask to the Mexican Consulate in your country for the details of the validity of the wedding certificate you’ll receive here, as it depends a lot on the state of Canada where they live.

We are hoping that 50 of our family members and friends with be joining us and staying at the resort. My fiancé and I are looking to have a wedding on the beach with a private reception to follow in an outdoor patio or beachfront location. I have some questions below...
The wedding at the beach is ok, about a private wedding reception, the one that is included at the package is at one of our specialty restaurants and its not private, we are going to close one section of the restaurant for you but the rest is going to be open for the other guests of the hotel. In case you want a Private wedding reception at a room or at the beach it will have an extra cost.

What differences there are between the Bahia Prince Akumal and the Tulum?
The difference between the Tulum side and the Akumal side is that the Tulum side is bigger than the Akumal, the Akumal side has more junior suites but the Tulum has more ocean views. The Akumal pools are like rivers and the Tulum side like lakes. Those are the main differences
